The view from 344 Aan de Gracht is beautiful and full of variety. Across the canal stands a huge chestnutt tree, which –together with the other trees- makes this part of the centre greener than you would maybe expect. On the canal you find the wharf cellars (werfkelders), which in the old days where used for storage, but nowadays serve as office space, studio or house. And of course on the water many boats, canoes and channelbikes float by. Within tens of meters you find numerous museums. People who love to stroll can walk to the Singel, designed by architect Zocher, which surrounds a part of the centre. When you walk on the Oudegracht in the direction of the centre you'll find after 1 kilometre the restaurants and cafes on the water.

344 Aan de Gracht is situated in the centre of Utrecht, but in a relatively quiet part: the Museumkwartier. In this part of town you'll find within walking distance the Catharijnenconvent (museum for religious art), the Centraal Museum (art museum), the Sterrenwacht (observatory) and the University Museum with botanical garden. You'll also find numerous modern art galeries. Within walking distance you'll find many special and lovely shops, like Carol Cox' patch work store, Ecodrome which sells biological products, antique shops, design stores etc. A little further, but still within walking distance are the Domtower and church, the Aboriginal Art Museum, the National Museum from Musical Clock to Streetorgan, the flower market and the Railway Museum. The owners of the hotel are happy to inform you about exhibitions, opening hours and locations.
